Voting for the Pembroke School 'Champion of Football books' has now closed. Congrat
ulations to Robson in Year 7 who won himself an official World Cup football, sponsored by Llewelyn Sports in Pembroke! Robson read and voted for the top scoring book (and the others in the series) -
TOP SCORER at the final whistle was Goal! by Robert Rigby, with Foul Play by Tom Palmer in 2nd place, and Cool! by Michael Morpurgo in 3rd.
Warmed up on the touchline but not quite seeing any action on the field were Match of the Day Magazine World Cup 2010, David Beckham's autobiography, My Side, and Bend it Like Beckham by Narinder Dhami.
Though voting has closed, fans can still pick up one of these and many other great footballing reads in the Library.
To celebrate the release of The Hunger Games film on 23 March, we launched a poster competition on World Book Day to advertise the series of books and the film. Congratulations to Rosie in Year 11 whose excellent poster won her first prize; hot on her heels was Siana, also Year 11, whose poster was judged runner-up. Both won themselves Hunger Games goodies. Thank you and well done for an amazing effort by all of 8G and Miss Mueller, whose entries earned them a class box of Celebrations chocs.
We also celebrated this fantastic series of books and the release of the film by holding our own Hunger Games-style challenges - though less sinister, they were no less tricky and tough! Having picked their 'survival sacks' up from the Cornucopia, the teams embarked on a series of tasks, each differing in difficulty and points. Well done to our winner, Sam (Year 9) and runners-up Aimee (Year 13), Dylan (Year 10) and Daniel (Year 12) - all earned themselves HG items!

Thanks to Mr S for this week's words!
Tell us what either or both words mean and you can choose a word for next week!

I pray no child of mine should ever descend into such a place as a Library. They are indeed most dangerous places and unfortunate is she or he who is lured into such a hellhole of enjoyment, stimulus, facts, passion and fun.
