National Children's
Book Week is an annual event sponsored and organised by the Young
Book Trust. Lively book-related events promote the enjoyment of
books and reading.
National Children's Book Week 2001 took place from 1st to 7th October.
The Library celebrated with a series of events throughout the week.
As well as the launch of the Read Around the World reading
challenge, the week saw the return of the ever-popular lunchtime
quiz on Friday 5th October. More than fifteen teams took
part. Congratulations to the winning team!
Which 3 books or poems would you take to a desert island?
Pupils and staff told us their favourites and the results can be
seen in a special display outside the Resources Department.
One of our most successful Book Week events was the Libraries
of the Future competition held in 2000. We asked you what you
thought libraries would be like in the year 2150. Click here
to view the winning entries!
