The
Library is in the most central location possible in such a large school, at the junction of the English
and Science Departments. There the Library has developed and
expanded in size, and with generous support from Texaco and
the FPSA, a new Sixth Form extension was added, and launched
(see picture, above right) in December 1997 by Phil Thompson
from Texaco.

| Stock and
Facilities |
The Library contains over 12,000
items of stock, including books, CDs, DVDs, videos,
newspapers and magazines, pictures, posters, and cuttings files. Fourteen networked PCs
are available for use by pupils and staff. All have access
to the Internet and to the school's local area network, with word-processing,
spreadsheet and database programs. A heavy-duty
laser printer offers printing facilities for the Library and neighbouring
departments and members of staff. Also within the Library is an
extensive careers library with careers information in books, leaflets, university and college
prospectuses, and a number of computers programs providing careers-related
information. |
